In this publication, we argue for the need of the right building blocks to make a great apprenticeship system. The paper focuses on three core areas: individuals, employers and providers. Respectively, each section discusses the cultural issues surrounding apprenticeships’ stigmatisation, the barriers of the levy system for employers and, the need for a regulatory framework that ensures good provision. Each matter is backed up by suggestions on how the apprenticeship system can be made a success. The aim of this paper is to show that working in partnership, can truly make apprenticeships great again.
